Levoyaps: Antibacterial agent of the fluoroquinolone group for topical use in ophthalmology.
5 ml of the drug contains:
active substance:
Levofloxacin hemihydrate is equivalent to levofloxacin 25 mg;
excipients: benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid 10% solution, sodium hydroxide 10% solution, water for injection.
The dose depends on the severity of the disease, the type of infection, the condition of the body and the age of the patient.
Applied locally. Shake the bottle before use! Before instilling eye drops, contact lenses must be removed; they can be put back on 15 minutes after instillation. When instilling drops into a sore eye/eyes, do not touch the tip of the dropper to the eyelids, skin around the eyes or other surfaces to avoid contamination. For all patients – in the first 2 days, 1-2 drops of solution are instilled into the affected eye(s) every 2 hours, no more than 8 times a day while awake. Then from the 3rd to the 5th day, instill 4 times a day. The duration of therapy is set individually by the doctor. The usual duration of treatment is 5 days. In some cases, it is possible to increase the course of treatment to 2 weeks. Drops are instilled into the conjunctival sac, and to avoid systemic absorption of the drug through the nasal mucosa and enhance local action, the nasolacrimal duct should be pressed with a finger for 2-3 minutes after instillation. When using other medications for topical use in the eyes simultaneously, a minimum 15-minute interval between their use is required. If the patient simultaneously uses eye ointment, it is applied last.
Children:
The safety and effectiveness of the drug in the treatment of corneal ulcers and ophthalmia in newborns have not been established. The use of Levoyaps eye drops in children under 1 year of age is not recommended due to the lack of data on effectiveness and safety. No change to the recommended dose is required.
Eye drop technique. Slightly tilt your head back and pull the lower eyelid down to form a pocket and place 1-2 drops of the drug into it. Close your eyes and roll your eyeballs for 1-2 minutes.
