Lebactam is a combined drug, which includes ampicillin and sulbactam.
1 bottle contains: 0.75 g 1.5 g;
ampicillin (as sodium salt) 0.50 g 1.0 g;
sulbactam (as sodium salt) 0.25 g 0.5 g;
1 ampoule with solvent contains:
1% lidocaine hydrochloride solution 3.5 ml 3.5 ml;
Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the drug:
For intramuscular administration, the contents of the vial (ampicillin / sulbactam) are dissolved in the contents of the ampoule (3.5 ml of 1% lidocaine hydrochloride solution). The prepared solution for intramuscular injection should be used within 1 hour after dissolution. The drug is injected deep into the muscle.
With intravenous administration of the drug, it is unacceptable to use a solution of lidocaine hydrochloride as a solvent!
For intravenous (stream or drip) administration, the contents of the vial (ampicillin/sulbactam) are diluted with sterile water for injection or any other compatible solution (e.g., 0.9% sodium chloride solution for injection, 5% dextrose solution for injection, Ringer’s solution with lactate for injection, M/6 sodium lactate solution for injection). After the disappearance of the foam visually evaluate the completeness of dissolution of the drug in the solvent. The dose can be administered as a stream over 3 minutes. It can also be diluted and administered dropwise over 15–30 minutes.
For adults: a daily dose of 1.5 g (1 g ampicillin/0.5 g sulbactam) to 12 g (8 g ampicillin/4 g sulbactam). The maximum daily dose of sulbactam is 4 g.
Lebactam is prescribed every 6-8 hours. For moderate infections – every 12 hours.
For children and newborns: the daily dose is 150 mg / kg / day (corresponding to 100 mg / kg / day of ampicillin and 50 mg / kg / day of sulbactam); the dose is divided into 3-4 doses. For premature babies and newborns under the age of 1 week, it is recommended to prescribe at a dose of 75 mg / kg / day, divided into 2 doses.
In patients with severe renal failure (Cl creatinine ≤ 30 ml/min), the excretion of sulbactam and ampicillin is impaired to the same extent, so the ratio of their concentrations in plasma does not change. In such patients, the drug should be administered less frequently in accordance with the usual practice of using ampicillin.
Treatment should continue for another 48 hours after the temperature normalizes. Duration of treatment – 5 – 14 days.
